Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio
The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio (AOoA) helps older adults and their family caregivers live long, quality, independent lives in its 10 county service area. The Area Office on Aging provides programs and services that help younger and more active older adults remain healthy, active and vibrant for as long as possible, programs and services that help frail older adults remain as independent as possible as well as services and programs for everyone in between.

is a 125 bed, fully locked Dementia-care facility with over 44,000 square feet for your loved one to move and explore their environment safely. Our goal is to provide optimal care, not just medically, but socially and spiritually as well. Our staff, including a full therapy department are passionate about what they do, and treat our residents as their own family, with dignity and respect. The Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association offers a wide variety of free, local programs and services specifically designed for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's and other dementias as well as families, caregivers, and the community. Services include care consultations, 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900, education, support groups and more. The Northwest Ohio Chapter serves 24 counties in Ohio and has offices located in Maumee and Mansfield. The Alzheimer's Association's mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. The Oakleaf Village campus of Sylvania offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Senior Behavioral Health(SBH) at the University of Toledo Medical Center is a comprehensive short-term inpatient treatment program for adults 55 and older who are experiencing behavioral and/ or emotional problems. Persons who may need services include those with suicidal ideation, severe depression, acute or severe behavioral changes with psychiatric symptoms such as hearing or seeing things that aren’t there, psychotic, or paranoid behavior.
