Educational Programs


NOGA is a multidisplinary professional organization in Northwest Ohio that offers educational opportunities to individuals involved in the care of older adults.

Program meetings begin at 3:00 p.m. followed by a one hour presentation. Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month. Please refer to the meeting information below for the appropriate month's location.

Members and guests are invited for a time of networking, coffee, and to hear a presentation by Valerie Feasel, RN, Clinical Liaison speak on "Managing Challenging Behaviors" Please note the different time and location!

Thursday, January 10, 2019 beginning at 8:00 a.m. -- Sunset House at 4020 Indian Road in Toledo 43606. Members and guests are invited for a time of networking and to hear a presentation by Dr. Murthy Gokula, M.D., CMD on area's first concierge holistic medical clinic "StayHome I Will." Please note the different meeting time and location!

September 6, 2018 - Presentation on "How Adult Care Services Can Add to Care Planning for Your Clients".

August 16, 2018 - NOGA's Summertime Networking Mixer Event.

June 7, 2018 - Presentation from a representative of the Lucas County Prosecutor's office on Elder Safety Issues.

April 5, 2018 – Presentation on "Live, Work and Lead - Positively!" This program provided 1 CE for social workers and nurses.

March 1, 2018 – Presentation on "Emergency Preparedness for Older Adults and Individuals with Disabilities."

February 1, 2018 – Presentation on the important topic of when seniors should get Advance Directives.

January 4, 2018 – Presentation on the "Good Old Fashion House Calls in Today's Busy Society."

December 7, 2017 - Joe Cafferty is a Clinical Social Worker with the Department of Veterans Affairs spoke on: "Bah Humbug! Lessons Learned from Mr. Scrooge & Company that can Assist Veteran Caregivers During the Holidays!"

November 2, 2017 - Cheryl Conley spoke on updates from the Coalition of Organizations Protecting Elders (COPE)."

October 5, 2017 - Richard Russell, CEO, Promedica Continuum Care, and Lynda M. Martinez, BSN, RN, CHPN, Director of Operations for Promedica Hospice spoke on "The Truth of Hospice and How to Handle the Change of Care."

September 7, 2017 - Panel discussion by seniors on the question: What do you need to have a successful life?

August 17, 2017 - Summertime NOGA Networking Mixer at Georgjz's Fine Food & Spirits.

June 1, 2017 – Program on "K-9 Comfort Dog Ministries."

May 4, 2017 - NOGA's 50th Anniversary Celebration Event and Annual Meeting. Time for networking, socializing, and hearing featured speakers present on how to advocate for the seniors we serve in this political environment. The Annual Meeting for members followed the presentation.

April 6, 2017 - Brenda Hendricks, BSG, Program Coordinator at The Alzheimer’s Association, NW Ohio Chapter presented on "Community-Based Dementia Care and Evidence-Based Programs to Support Individuals with Dementia and their Families."

March 2, 2017 - Daniel Hunt, TARTA Mobility Manager, presented on transportation of individuals within our community and mobility management.

February 2, 2017 - "Not Just Another Clock Drawing Test" presented by Barbara Brock. A FREE 1 Contact Hour Nurses and Social Workers was provided.

January 5, 2017 - "What is an ACO?" presented by Sue Trumbull.
